The 2015 Driving & Drinking Tour of Florida Breweries is underway. I don’t have a detailed itinerary of my brewery visits so I plan on working them into my free schedule primarily on weekends. This past weekend I was in Longwood with an hour or so of free time so I headed to the Hourglass Brewery.
The Hourglass Brewery has been around since 2012 and in 2014 they moved a few blocks south into much larger facilities. They have always had nice beers but I was not a fan of the cramped space at their original location. Their new location is much larger and nicer. A relaxing place, primarily painted black with a blue lighting glow. I’m betting they can get a couple hundred people in the new tasting room which is quite a change from the previous location. On my visit they had 5 of their own beers on tap while the remaining 35 taps were filled with a nice selection of craft beers. They also have a huge selection of bottled beers in case you can’t find anything on draught that interests you (hard to believe that would be possible though). For this visit I started with a pumpkin based offering named “Stupid Pumpkin Face” (6.7% abv) and ended with a milk stout named “Morlock” (5.1% abv). Both beers tasted very nice with my slight preference being the Stupid Pumpkin Face. I really like that their website has a link to their real time beer menu so you can see what they have on tap before visiting.
